Managers' Forum ~ Website Reviews
Association of International Business
Website Review by: Charles Ross
The Association of International Business (AIB) is a consortium of approximately
10,000 members across 160 countries. It is becoming one of the world’s largest
communities of business people.

The primary goal of the organization and the web site is to provide international
managers opportunities to communicate with one another, and share their knowledge
and experience. Members include a broad range of individuals from multinational
executives, to small business managers, to educators and government agencies
around the globe.

The association’s mission statement:

“To provide a means for business people all over the world to communicate, learn
and share their knowledge, their experience, mentor and learn while meeting
new associates and making new friends across cultures, borders, and time zones.”
The web site provides an array of resources ranging from forum discussions and
email lists of industry and country experts, to archives of articles regarding
business practices and principles in different countries. Additionally, the
site provides links on the internet to help managers navigate and find information
about conducting business overseas. These sites are helpful regarding country/regional
data and competitive influences, as well as providing resources for guidance
on regulatory issues and cultural information.

The site also publishes an electronic newsletter, which addresses critical issues
pertaining to business on an international and global scope. Articles are concise
and effective. Their purpose is to pass along the best new ideas, solutions,
and resources that international managers need.

Membership to the site and the association is free.

In summary, this is a dynamic web site. Members participate as mentors, peers,
and scholars. Therefore, it is a valuable web site for networking in the international
business community and for locating information about conducting business overseas.
As with most internet sites, there is a lot of information available for review.
The more precise the search, the more successful the manager will be in finding
relevant, obtainable data.
