"El Largero"
Review by: Andrés Gutierrez-Meca
I still remember four years ago when I first came to the US. I always
loved sports and specially Spanish soccer. Reading the newspapers and
listening to "El Largero" were my favorites activities. You can imagine
them what meant to me to be away from what I was use to do daily during
a whole semester.

"El Largero" it is my favorite sport radio show. It is from midnight
till 1:30 a.m., and I was used to go to bed with it everyday. The major
topic of the program is of course soccer, and the way they manage to
transmit the information made them the number one program in Spain. I
loved it and basically it was like my lullaby, I was not able to fall
asleep without listening to it.

After two years of struggling without the program they started to send
the signal through the Internet and my life here became to have a
reason. At the beginning I had some problems adapting to the new hours,
the difference in hours with Spain made me to listen to it at 5 p.m.,
but soon was adapted to do my homework and listen to it in the evenings.

The other day I had the chance to listen an interview with Claudio
Ranieri, my team new trainer, and it was really interesting. (He is an
Italian guy but his Spanish is perfect). Anyway, he talked about the
team situation, another year with loses!, and after three out of three
he was only thinking about how he still had the faith on winning and put
the team  in a position according with the money spent in new players.

I am going to keep listening to my favorite radio station as much as a
can, but also I am able to read newspapers and magazines from my country
at "España al Desnudo",
http://ibgwww.colorado.edu/~gayan/spain.html#medios.
There I am able to find all the information from Spain that I want and
totally free. I could not find a better deal!
