UN Radio (United Kingdom) - World in Review
Review by:  Tim Edwards
A great place to find the latest international headlines in the
news is on the Internet.  The UN Radio from the United Kingdom
focuses on important international events and doesn't broadcast trivial
news stories form any particular country.

I found the stories on this particular radio broadcast to be very well done.
Too often journalist tell us too much, too little, or miss all together the
important aspects of a particular news story.  This broadcast was
perfect.  You understood the stories and their significance and were
still given enough information to form a relatively good summary of the
particular occurrence.

On Sunday, September 12, 1999 the top international stories were:

                    -  East Timor
                            -  on-going violence and unrest
                            -  UN concern and possible action
                    -  Sierra Leon
                            -  displacement of 3 million children
                    -  Nuclear Weapons Programs in Pakistan & India
                            -  conflict between the two governments
                    -  Global Labor Trends
                            -  USA work week becoming longer
                            -  European becoming shorter

Being a web-radio taped broadcast, I found this way of listening to the
news quite enjoyable and convenient.   Try using the web radio for
information on international current events and business stories.
I'm sure you will find it very useful.
